Cookies
What are cookies?
Cookies are small files that are saved on your computer when you browse websites. They contain information related to your browser and the sites you visit. Cookies consist of 2 parts: the name and the content. They are saved in a specific folder on your hard drive and each has a unique ID and duration. When you return to a site, the cookie allows it to recognize you and continue the history. Some cookies delete themselves when you leave the site, while others remain on your computer as long as you do not delete them.
Cookies are not active programs; therefore, they are not dangerous for your computer. They are not always used for commercial purposes either. Some are used to facilitate browsing; they prevent you from having to enter certain data on each visit (log in, screen settings). Which web pages are visited? How many? What is the path taken to get there? How long does the visitor stay on the site? Based on these results, the site can be modified according to the interests and needs of the visitor. For example, by displaying personalized information.
What are the different types of cookies?
Generally, two types of cookies are distinguished:
- First-party cookies: these are direct cookies. They are created by a site to improve the functioning of a web page. They are used to manage the technical component of a site, such as language choice or saving products in a virtual cart in a webshop. They are generated and installed by the visited site.
- Third-party cookies: these indirect cookies are generated and installed on your computer by a third party that the visited site. They record a user's browsing behavior. Examples: social media like Facebook and YouTube, as well as Google Analytics. This is the most commonly used system for measuring visits to sites. It is especially for this type of cookie that site owners must request permission from users before installing a cookie, in accordance with the law in effect since 2012.
This law does not differentiate between first-party cookies and third-party cookies. The user's consent is the only distinguishing criterion. Cookies that are necessary for a site to function do not require consent. In all other cases, consent is necessary.
What type of cookies do we use?
First-party cookies and third-party cookies.
The Trolls & Légendes site also uses third-party cookies: those from Google Analytics. Google Analytics is a free service from Google that collects website statistics and provides detailed analysis. The site manager thus has a clear idea of visitor flows, traffic sources, and pages viewed. It is then possible to modify all or part of a site based on the results and interests of users.
As well as Facebook and YouTube. These third-party providers can theoretically install cookies while you visit our website, obtaining for example information indicating that you have opened our website. Please visit the websites of third-party providers for more information regarding their use of cookies.
If you have decided in principle not to give your consent to the use of cookies requiring consent or to revoke the consent that has been given, only the functionalities of our website will be provided to you when we can guarantee use without these cookies. The areas of our website that potentially offer the technical possibility to integrate third-party content and thus set third-party cookies will not be accessible to you in this case. If you still wish to use the content of the site in such a case, this is only possible if you accept the use of cookies requiring your consent. Activate the consent function available at the corresponding position on our website.
How to manage cookies?

But you will only be able to navigate to certain personalized pages of our websites by accepting cookies. Your browsing will generally be less easy if you refuse all cookies.
